Although winter brings a break in the outdoor gardening season, it need not stop the intrepid gardener who longs to grow plants even in the months where the climate does not cooperate. It is at this time of year when gardeners' thoughts turn to indoor gardening. One easy way to get set up for success with indoor gardening is to get an indoor grow tent to use this winter. Once you try indoor grow closets, you will likely become so hooked on them that you will continue to use them year round.
Grow tent kits take all the hassle out of getting an indoor grow tent set up for the first time. All of the pieces and parts that you will need for the indoor grow tent will be included in the grow tent kits, helping you to get organized and off on the right foot immediately. Set up of the indoor grow tent has also been taken into consideration by the manufacturers; several of these indoor grow closets can be set up in as little as thirty minutes.
As you begin your search for the perfect grow closet, you will want to decide if you want to garden in soil, or if you would prefer to try hydroponic gardening, which is a soilless means of growing excellent fruits, flowers and vegetables. If you live at the top of an apartment building, for example, it can be difficult getting potting soil all the way up to where you would like to garden, so it may be much easier to get a hydro grow tent in this case. You simply put your hydroponic growing system inside your hydro grow tent, add a light and a small exhaust fan and filter, and you are well on your way to growing the plants you like in a perfect, climate-controlled setting provided by indoor grow closets.
While tents are made out of soft materials with reflective inner sides, which help to improve the plants' exposure to the light inside, a grow closet, which is often used as another name for the tent, can actually have stiff sides, rather like a large box. The inside of the closet is also often coated with shiny material to improve the light saturation inside the box. Bright light is important to plant growth, and all indoor grow lights in some way attempt to replicate natural sunlight that the plants would be exposed to if grown outdoors.
Discount indoor gardening suppliers online will offer a variety of grow tent kits and closets, so you can shop for ones that are suitable in size for your indoor gardening spaces.

Modern Quick Guide to Water Gardening
If you are thinking of enhancing your landscape options and increasing the esthetic appeal of your home, you must consider a water feature. For the home gardener, water features can be both exciting and rewarding. What other aspect of you landscape can add the relaxing sound of moving water, allow you to use new and different plants, and attract animals and birds into your yard?
There are four different types of water features you may want to consider when thinking about your water garden. These are ponds, streams, waterfalls and fountains.
Ponds can be divided into two different types: formal and informal.
Formal ponds, often called pools, are characterized by neat regular borders. They may have an edge that is circular or straight in nature. Pools can be raised or at ground level and have a formal man made look.
An informal pond looks as if it was designed by nature. The only limit for designing and informal pond is your imagination. Your pond may look like a secluded mountain treasure, a secret desert oasis, a charming oriental garden, or what ever else comes to mind: it' is your choice. The edges of an informal pond are at ground level and are camouflaged with rocks, stones and plants. Your pond can be small or large; whatever your space limitations are. When considering an informal pond you may want the flexibility and convenience of a pond kit. Pond kits contain everything you need but the stone, water, and plants, and are just the ticket for the beginner.
Streams are generally used as a connecting waterway between two features; usually a waterfall and pond. Streams may be either fast moving or slow, and the natural features of your yard will in part determine your stream choice. A stream will require a pump to move the water from the pond back up to the waterfall. Erosion, seasonal runoff, and silt deposits are a few of the special considerations one should plan for when thinking of a stream.
Waterfalls may either be a water feature that empties into a pond or stream or a disappearing waterfall. A disappearing waterfall is just that: the water disappears into the ground, is then collected in an underground basin, and is pumped back up to the waterfall. Usually the water basin is covered with rock or stone for a natural transition. The advantages of a disappearing waterfall is that it does not have to run constantly, there is no visible, standing water and it does not require a lot of space. When building any waterfall your top priority is making sure that it is waterproof. A disappearing waterfall kit will help insure your success and make your project the perfect addition to your landscape.
Fountains can come in just about any size, shape, or form. They may be free standing or be included within a pond. If you are considering a pond with fish or plants, a fountain is an excellent way of aerating the water by providing a continuous source of oxygen. Fountains may act as a sound barrier, and as with any water feature the sound and movement of the water will enable you to relax and enjoy a bit of nature.
Make your yard a home within your home by adding a water feature that brings you years of pleasure and enjoyment.
About Turn Your Backyard Into an Outdoor Paradise With Outdoor Living Furniture
Outdoor living furniture can transform a backyard into a fun and relaxing oasis. A well-appointed backyard should be an extension of the home and be as inviting to guests as a comfortable living room. Teak chairs, cedar benches, porch swings and a variety of other outdoor accessories can create the perfect outdoor experience just a few steps from your back door. Whether enjoying a morning cup of coffee in solitude, or entertaining guests on a summer evening, a yard filled with stylish furniture provides the perfect place to relax.
The highest quality outdoor furnishings are more inclined to endure weather changes and are therefore designed out of the sturdiest natural materials available. Though created for durability, homeowners do not have to sacrifice the beautiful elegance that they so desire in their garden and backyard environment. Some of the most elegantly designed outdoor furnishings are made from red cedar, which offers stunning natural grains and lustrous, natural hues. Quality outdoor living furniture made from red cedar comes in a variety of design options and is perfect for any backyard, but particularly those that are subject to insect habitation, and cold and wet weather changes.
Because of its natural ability to withstand time and weather changes, many who invest in red cedar wood furnishings for their gardens or backyards prefer to allow the wood to age naturally, without applying an additional finish or other wood treatment. Others prefer to apply a wood sealer or a stain to protect the colorful undertones of the wood. However, it is never recommended that an owner apply any type of oil finish on red cedar wood.
These exquisite furnishings can be accessorized with colorful cushions to compliment the surrounding foliage, and many families find that classic red cedar wood designs are easy to coordinate with matching swing sets and playhouses. This allows children to also have an enjoyable time in the yard, without taking away from the beauty of the outdoor design. Often, matching tables, chairs, umbrellas, fire pits, and outdoor kitchens can also assist in creating a true outdoor retreat that homeowners find particularly irresistible during warmer weather months.
When purchasing outdoor living furniture, it is important to select furnishings made from only the highest quality materials. Though bargain manufacturers create beautiful furnishings, which are often carried in discount department stores, the fact that these cheaply made designs rarely last more than a year or two makes them very bad investments. While higher quality brands may also be higher priced, the difference is that some will last 10 years or more depending upon how well they are cared for.
A garden or a backyard can easily represent the personality, lifestyle, and tastes of the homeowners in the same way that the inside decor of the home does. Shopping for outdoor furniture can be exciting, as the right selections help create an environment where lasting memories are made and shared.
Lovely Do I Need a Building Permit For My Backyard Shed?
If you're planning to build a backyard shed or storage shed of some type on your property, it will be very important to learn as much as you can about the laws in your area and determine whether or not you will need a building permit before you ever begin.
Every city and town is different in their laws regarding building permits but every city has some type of law. If you live in the country, outside of city limits, you most likely won't have to worry about building permits. If you want to build on private property in the country, you can build however you want.
In the city, however, you will need building permits for certain types and sizes of structures and you will need to be sure your shed meets the regulations of your city. It's important to know the zoning laws and other legal codes before you start any building or you can be facing some hefty fines and possibly have to tear your building down.
Most cities will have height and size restrictions on your storage shed. You probably want to build the largest size you are allowed in your city. Time and time again people complain about their shed being too small. In time, you will continue to collect more things that you need to shed and then upgrading will be more difficult than just building bigger now.
You may be required to get a permit and there could be restrictions placed on where and how you can do construction on your storage shed. For example, you may be restricted from using loud tools at certain hours of the day and night. If a permit is required where you live, make sure you apply for one.
Don't try to sneak by building it without one and hope you don't get caught or it can really come back to bite you in the event that you are discovered. If you're going to do it, you should do it right and this includes getting a building permit.
Never trust another person's word about whether or not you need a building permit for your storage shed. Always go straight to the source and find out. You can even make an anonymous call if you want but don't trust the world of family, friends or neighbors. You don't even want to listen to someone who's done it before as zoning laws and regulations can change each year.

Swimming pools come in a variety of different materials, some requiring more maintenance than others. No matter which type fits your liking, use this link to get your own swimming pool.
•The slick surface of fiberglass pools repels algae, but it will need occasional re-coating.
•Concrete pools can take more wear and tear than other pool materials, however they need to be replaced or resurfaced every 7 to 10 years.
•Tile is a concrete pool with a tile finish instead of a plaster finish. The tile surface requires less surface maintenance than other surfaces.
•Vinyl-lined pools have a slick surface that, like fiberglass, repels algae. It's easier to maintain the chemical balance in vinyl pools, but they need to be replaced about every 10 years.
Hot tubs also serve as the ultimate personal retreat. The tub's therapeutic waters are ideal for stress relief and relaxation, alleviating the aches and pains of everyday demands in the privacy of your own home. Hot Tubs are direct paths to relaxing evenings.
About Finding a Proper Patio Canopy
A patio canopy is often mistaken as a patio cover but it is not. A cover is often a fixture, part of the home while a canopy can either be attached or be portable. Patio canopies are also made of durable canvas materials that can stand up to harsh weather. Still some manufacturers will call their products canopies even though they are made of aluminum. When you think of patio canopies, Sunbrella may paint a better picture of what they are. They produce the best in heavy duty canvas canopies.
It does have some similarities to the patio cover. For instance, both provide shade and protection from the sun and rain. But typically a patio canopy is closer to an umbrella. They can be large and rectangular or come in the standard octagonal shape. They can stand alone or fit into tables. They can even be installed to cover your patio swing. You can basically get patio covers in any shape and size you need.
Being an outdoor furniture item the fabric the outdoor patio canopy is made of will be durable and weather treated. While you can always remove the cover and store it away it can also be trusted to endure any elements it comes up against. They will come clean easily should any debris dirty them up. The larger they are the more room you have to enjoy yourself with your guests. Whether it's pool side or just outdoors on a warm sunny day, patio canopies are a sure hit.
You can find all kinds of accessories with them as well. Lights can be hung under them. Some have eaves for further sun screening. You can even get them to fold all the way down for complete privacy. These will have a door that zips like a tent. A mesh netting will sometimes be included for protection against flying insects.
You can leave your canopy out all year long if you want. It's that durable. The canvas that is used is made with a coating of polyethylene and polyester fiber that is breathable and easy to clean. It is less prone to dry rot because of the safety coating too. Whatever need you have for a patio canopy, you know you are making a wise investment.
Nice Transforming Your Patio With Patio Umbrellas and Other Accessories
Patio umbrellas and other accessories, when well chosen, can transform your patio. Tired of watching all those home makeover shows and then looking at your own outdoor space? Give it a try yourself. A small concrete slab or plain deck is actually a common feature, especially with small homes. When you choose a few key accessories based on knowledge of how they will affect the look and feel of your patio, you can achieve similar results to what you see on TV shows or in magazines. Patio umbrellas and other similar items are the key to your makeover. A few items, if they are the right ones, can totally change the look of your patio.
They can also change the feel of your patio. Have you noticed that what you see can influence how you feel? People who work or live in disorganized surroundings often feel chaotic, too. But when they take the time to get organized, a feeling of productivity and peace comes. People who live in darkness often feel depressed, but when someone comes in and pulls up the shades, lets the sun in, and installs bright light bulbs, the feelings of depression ease a little. The same principles apply to outdoor surroundings too. Achieve a visually appealing space, and your feelings will probably improve, too.
If your patio is small, try to choose mostly light colors-for instance, white, tan, ivory, or pastel shades. You certainly don't need to suck all the color out of your patio, but make a point to avoid deep or dark colors. Darker colors make the space feel more closed in, while lighter colors make it feel bigger and more open. Use this principle as you choose all your accessories, including chair cushions, pillows, rugs, furniture frames, and patio umbrellas. You can now find many styles of patio umbrellas that allow you to choose from many canopy colors. Note the dimensions of the patio umbrellas you consider, too. They do come in different sizes. Before you buy, make sure it will fit both your patio and your dining table.
Hunt for furniture that comes with a slim frame and simple design. Like the color trick, this one helps a small patio feel more open. Slender legs, armrests, and backs may be signs that this furniture will work for your small patio.
For many homes, privacy is a big concern. Particularly if your house lies close to your neighbor's, or if it's near a busy road, you'll want to consider privacy measures. Patio umbrellas can address privacy, to a limited degree. You might also consider hedges, fences, lattice panels, partial walls, or privacy screens. To make any of structure look more appealing, you can intersperse planters with them or grow climbing vines on them. If you prefer a totally organic look, you should investigate hedges or structures you can cover completely with climbing plants.
In summary, the key to transforming your patio lies in your informed choices. Instead of picking patio umbrellas, furniture, and other accessories based on how good they look in the store, make smart choices. Think about the effect each design will have on your patio. Evaluate the simplicity of the furniture. Don't forget to consider color, too. Plan ahead to incorporate privacy enhancers in your patio makeover.
Inspirational Turn Your Backyard Into an Oasis With Affordable Exterior Stone Veneers
Imagine coming home after a hard day's work to unwind in your own personal outdoor sanctuary. Imagine dining al fresco, enjoying a delicious meal prepared on the grill of your outdoor kitchen. Then imagine spending the evening under the stars as you relax by the fireplace in your outdoor living room.
Outdoor living spaces like this are ideal venues for entertaining, allowing you to expand the functional area of your home beyond the confines of its walls. Manufactured stone veneer makes it easy to create such an outdoor oasis, the harmonious blending of interior design with exterior landscaping.
Stone Veneer Kitchen Types
The first element to consider is the kitchen. There are two options to help you design an outdoor kitchen to suit both your environment and your budget.
Modular Kitchen Islands
This is a semi-custom option in which you choose the units you desire, then mason company works with you to select the manufactured stone matching your environment. Accent finishes can include stucco, granite, and more.
Custom Kitchen Islands
This completely custom option gives you a unique design unlike anything you'll find on the market. For example, you may choose a detailed stone veneer fireplace, perhaps a pizza oven, a bar, food preparation and cooking areas, and a seating area. Our experienced landscape architect will match the finish to your existing pool or pavilion, precisely reflecting your lifestyle and personality.
Outdoor Kitchen Shapes
Your outdoor kitchen island can be a simple rectangular unit, or it can have multiple angles of varying degrees. Popular shapes are Vs and Ls. It all depends on the appliances and amenities you wish to accommodate. Consider a design that provides an area for stools arranged so you can face and converse with your guests as you cook.
Outdoor Living Rooms
An outdoor living space can consist of just a kitchen, but why not create a complete and harmonious environment that encompasses an area to sit and relax as well? Think about including a traditional fire pit, clad in rustic stone veneer. Wood-burning or fuelled by propane or natural gas, it would make an ideal centrepiece for your backyard.
While a fireplace or fire-pit provides ambient light and warmth, it won't protect you from the elements. For that you'll need a shelter such as an awning or a pergola. This can be sized to cover just the kitchen area, or the entire living space. The pillars for the shelter can be clad in the same stone veneer you've chosen for your fireplace and kitchen, blending in with your overall landscape design.
A Lifestyle Investment
Your outdoor living space can be both a retreat from the world and a reflection of your lifestyle. But it's also a wise and practical investment. Studies have proven that well designed and constructed backyard kitchens and living rooms retain as much as 81% of their value, contributing to the resale price of your home.
Beautiful A Backyard Mechanic's Guide to Troubleshooting a Diesel Engine
You don't have to be a certified mechanic to troubleshoot a diesel engine. All you need is a bit of mechanical aptitude and some basic tools. You have to determine what happened right before the breakdown. This is called the story line, it's a blow by blow sequence of events that will help you determine the cause of the failure.
By the way, if your diesel engine is electronic you may find yourself towing it to a dealer who has a scanner to get the codes out of the On Board Diagnostics System. BUT there are still checks you can perform before you call the hook.
Always check the simple things first!
Diesel engines require air and fuel to run.
This is investigative information that will guide you to a possible solution. You have to ask the driver of the vehicle the following questions.
1. What was exactly going on when the engine quit?
2. Were there any dash gauges or warning lights acting up?
3. Were there any unusual noises?
This will help you get some clues on any contributing factors that could give you some troubleshooting wisdom. If the engine was hesitating or losing power you could be looking at air in the fuel. If the engine just quit instantly you should check the ignition system, fuel transfer pump and engine shutdown solenoid.
Here Are Some Basic Checks You can Follow up With: Mostly for a rough running engine condition before it quit.
1. Is the fuel tank topped up? I know this is a lame question but it's happened before.
2. Is there gas in the tank instead of diesel? Again, I've seen this happen before.
3. Check the fuel filter and make sure it is full of fuel. This determines if you have a fuel starvation problem or not.
4. Check for water in the fuel separator, the first filter closest to the tank. They have a bleed off valve at the bottom of the housing.
5. Check for fuel leaks at the lines and fittings.
6. Check the air filter for any restrictions. This won't cause a no start unless air intake is totally blocked off.
7. Make sure you are getting fuel to the injection pump. Crack a line before the injection pump and crank over the engine to determine if the fuel transfer pump is working.
8. Crack open an injector fuel line at one of the cylinders and crank over the engine.
Are there signs of pressure or a foamy substance? The latter means there is air in the fuel.
By this time you will have determined where the problem is in the fuel system. Once you nail down a general theory to what component is at fault you can do some digging and pick some brains at the local repair shop. These procedures will help you possibly find a problem along the way, get some experience and save a few bucks.
Best Indoor Gardening Through Those Cold Winter Months
Indoor gardening during those long cold months of winter can keep the excitement of your gardening experiences going. Having a garden in the home can really add to your decor and aid to your health at the same time. Indoor gardening helps to add moisture to the air as well as filter the air by exchanging carbon dioxide for oxygen through plants.
This method of gardening is no more demanding than an outdoor garden and you don't have to have a lot of room to do it. All you need is the basics to have a successful indoor garden, light, nutrients and water.
Depending on the types of indoor plants, the requirements for lighting can differ, most plants grow best with a good light source. This can be accomplished by placing your plants near windows or by the use of growing lights. When choosing the plants you want to grow in your indoor garden, keep in mind that your plants with dark leaves usually won't need as much light as the other plants.
Over watering is the most common mistake that is made with growing an indoor garden. Indoors you don't have the sun, wind or the larger areas of soil to absorb the moisture or evaporate it. Your indoor garden will need water just as your outdoor garden does, just keep in mind that these plants are in containers and you can't just keep watering them and have water standing in the container, this will only cause the root systems to rot. A good drainage system is very important with container gardening. Under watering is also just as important and needs to be monitored. Check the moisture daily at the beginning to see how the soil retains or drains moisture is very important. You want to keep the soil moist, not soaked.
Humidity can be a problem with indoor gardening, particularly in the winter months when air in your house can be very dry. Simply misting your plants with a fine spray can help during these dry times.
Nutrition is another thing that is very important. Different plants have different requirements, keep this in mind when planning your indoor garden. There are many organic slow release nutrients that can be purchased at most local garden centers for this method of gardening. Also remember that a good healthy organic soilless potting mix that drains well, retains the moisture needed and retains nutrients needed for your plants to thrive is very important with indoor gardening.

Beautiful Backyard Playground Adventures - Safety First!
As children play, they learn. It is essential as a parent that you provide them with a safe place to explore their world, interact with other children and learn as they have fun. A great way to accomplish all this is to get a backyard kids playground. This provides your children with a safe enclosed area to play and get out of the house. In order for the investment to actually be safe and enjoyable, however, there are several safety factors that you must consider.
The most important part is selecting a proper surfacing material. Falls will happen, there is no doubt about that, and the material your children fall onto can make the difference between a scraped knee that a kiss can cure and a broken limb that requires a trip to the emergency room. A highly recommended material is rubber mulch. Perfect for breaking a fall, this spongy material lasts a lifetime, is low in cost and is easy to maintain. Whether you choose this material or another, it should be a foot in depth and extend out at least six feet from the kids playground equipment. This will help ensure the surface is adequate to provide proper safety.
Before you install a kids playground in your backyard, look for tripping hazards in your yard. This could include tree stumps, rocks, or uneven ground. Level everything out and remove obstacles to avoid an injury. Many families have more than one play structure. This can make for hours of enjoyable play, but it can be a safety issue. If you have multiple structures that have platforms which are more than 30 inches off the ground, make sure each is set at least nine feet apart. This will ensure that if a child has a fall, an injury will not be caused by running into another structure. Swings, teeter totters and others with large moving parts should be set in a separate area altogether.
As you select the right kids playground equipment for your family, keep in mind the age range of a specific set. Many sets try to accommodate as large of an age range as possible so it remains enjoyable for your children year after year. However, toddlers on equipment designed for older children are in danger because the proportion of the playground to them is not correct. Older children may have a tendency to be rough with equipment that is designed for younger kids.
Always ask the playground builder on the best options available.
Amazing Gardening in any Economic Climate
Gardening product providers have developed many new planting options to give its clientele the resources to plant more efficiently and more abundantly, even if it be on a porch or balcony. One product that has been developed that is very beneficial is the quick start planting pellets. Just simply add water to the condensed pellets and once they expand, just plant your vegetable or herb of choice. Next place in the humidity inducing chamber and wait about a week for your seeds to sprout. Once they have germinated, all that is left to do is plant in your pot of choice.
Utilizing the railings as support is great way to save in areas with limited space. There are specialized planters for purchase that are designed to hang from balcony railings that extend outward, to gain usage of space that is otherwise useless. I find these planters are perfect for herbs or even flowers to add some color to your outdoor patio. Another inventive idea is to plant vine-like plants, such as cucumbers. By slinging them over the side, and letting them grow downward, it can give plants more strength and use less space in order to grow plants that need plenty of room to spread out.
I have utilized all these techniques to grow a diverse range of plants, from cucumbers to cilantro, from cacti to columbines, and even onions. Living in apartment, planting did not seem to be a plausible option. However, it was one of the best, inexpensive decisions that you will ever make. All these resources can be found at your local supercenter. Whether you are planting for fun, food or flavor, it can still be done, even if it's just a patio. About the Author

Awesome Top Gardening Tips - Part One of Two
When I was born I was an ugly duckling, my mother wished for me to grow up and become a beautiful swan and therefore gave me a name called Yanhua. I have both Chinese and Korean connections and in both languages this name means beautiful flower. When I first came to Ireland and the UK, lots of people were curious to know the meaning of my name. This name is difficult to pronounce and remember for most westerners, so they call me by my English name - Shannon.
I may have grown up to be a beautiful swan (Sorry, for not being modest!) compared to an ugly duck, however, maybe because of my name, Yanhua, I have fallen in love with flowers and I feel that I have a special connection with flowers. Whether they are indoor plants in my house or in the front and back gardens, they tend to do very well. Of course the main reason is that I pay special attention and care to them and I feel they can feel it too. As a reward, my flowers tend to blossom longer, are bigger with more flowers and are healthier; all of that provides me with a beautiful garden and green living space.
Flowers and plants are just like any relationships in your life; if you pay special attention, care and put efforts to them they will reward you handsomely, but if you ignore them they tend to die or do poorly. The following tips are from many years of my own experience that worked well in my gardening:
* Roses: I have 22 different types of roses in my garden, they are absolutely beautiful and it's one of my favourites. They flower many times from May to late autumn and I love its variety, fragrances and different styles. I have Silver Jubilee, Paul's Scarlet, the climbing rose, Special Anniversary, Twist, Arthur Bell, Remember Me, Jackie Carter, David Austin and many more...
1. You can prune your roses in late autumn after flowering is over, but I have found March to be the best month for pruning roses. Make sure you cut the rose bush down to 6- 8 inches from the rose union. If the bush is too tall, the nutrition tends not to go up high and therefore the plant will produce less flowers. It also looks ugly as a tall bush with just a few flowers on top of it. Make sure that you cut off branches from the inner side of the bush, so air can circulate. Also cut off any suckers that do not produce any buds.
2. Feed plant food regularly (follow the instructions on the fertiliser container) to keep up nutrition from spring to late summer. This helps your roses flower bigger, longer and produce more buds.
3. Rose Clear: Roses attract lots of greenfly and the leaves can get spots and fungus. Rose Clear (an insecticide and fungicide) is an excellent solution to all of these problems and it works really well.
4. After the flower's are finished, make sure you cut them off regularly, known as dead-heading, this will help new buds coming up and the nutrition won't be wasted on producing seeds. This is very important to keep a long lasting rose garden.
Lovely BBQ Smokers - 3 Types of Barbecues For Your Own Backyard
Barbecuing is a method of cooking meat that originated in the Southern States about 100 years ago. It basically involves cooking meat under a low temperature for a long period of time. Typically, the types of meat cooked with this method are of the pork and beef variety. Barbecued ribs, in particular, are a very tasty little dish. Up until very recently, BBQ smokers were massive machines that cost upwards of 10000 dollars. With the ever growing popularity of this type of food though, we're seeing more and more BBQ smokers available for sale. Prices are coming down and units are getting small enough to fit into average sized backyards.
So where should one begin if they're thinking about buying a BBQ for their home? Well, other than size and price, the biggest thing you need to decide on is the type of fuel that runs the unit. There are basically three choices here: Charcoal, Gas and Electric. All three types have good and bad features.
The most popular type of smoker is definitely fueled by charcoal. For a barbecue enthusiast, this is really the only way to go. These purists often scoff at the idea of using anything else, claiming that the charcoal enhances the taste of the meat. The one major drawback of using a charcoal unit is the fact that you need to use a lot of charcoal to properly smoke any meat. This can get quite pricey if you plan on cooking a lot of food.
The other two types of barbecues out there, electric and gas, are quite similar. They both allow you to easily control the temperature while cooking. This is great for beginners who aren't completely comfortable with the idea of using charcoal to smoke meat. These units are generally less expensive than their charcoal counterparts as well.
If you're interested in getting into the whole BBQ smoker scene, don't hesitate! I recommended starting with a propane or electric unit and eventually graduate to the authentic charcoal smoker.
The How to Have the Best Summer Backyard Fun
The summer is a great time to enjoy your backyard. If you've been cooped up all winter long it's especially important for you to get out there and play. Having summer backyard fun will decrease your stress levels and bring you closer to your family than ever before.
It's most important that you just get outside. Forget about planning things for a minute and get out there and enjoy the fresh air. We all need to clear our heads every now and then and sitting outside or taking a walk is a great way to do that.
There does come a point where you'll want to do more. After all, it takes a lot more than just sitting outside to entertain the family these days! If you take the time to plan some summer activities you'll all have a great time.
First, survey your backyard. Is it attractive? You might not think the way your backyard looks should have any bearing on how much fun you can have. But it does matter, because if your backyard is dingy and boring no one will want to spend time out there.
It's definitely a good idea to clear the clutter. Get rid of things you're not using anymore or are broken. Do a little bit of landscaping to get everything looking its best.
After you're finished fixing up your yard a little bit you should start to think about the things your family would enjoy doing. One popular choice is having cookouts.
It's so much fun to cook on the grill and have everyone eat on a picnic table outside. If that sounds like something your family would enjoy you might consider getting the equipment to do so. It can also be a lot of fun to have enough seating space for a large group of people so you can have parties.
Eating isn't the only way to have fun outside. Sports are something many people enjoy as well. You might want to get something like a basketball hoop, volleyball net, or soccer goals. This will keep everyone entertained and physically fit.
Another great way to enjoy your backyard is to plant a garden. You can have a flower garden, a vegetable garden, or both. It's a nice feeling to be able to go outside and pick fresh veggies to put on the table. You can plan your garden to be a family activity where everyone lends a hand.
There is no limit to the summer backyard fun you can have. It's all about using the space you have to create the opportunity to do the things you like to do. Whether it be grilling outside, playing games, or planting flowers you're sure to have a good time this summer.

Best of Types Of Gardening Decorations
First on my list is the planter box. It may be simple but there are so many types of planters to create a relaxing feel to our living space. My favorite type of planter is the illuminated flower box. It might be a simple planter during the day but on dark places and at night it is the most stunning gardening decoration that can brighten up the patio and living area. It might be a bit expensive but it is worth every penny. Planter box may as well be suitable during occasions like birthdays. This bright luminous container box can add light to parties mostly celebrated during the night.
The next home decorating paraphernalia is the terrarium. Glass terrariums are modern form of gardening idea. It is an aquarium like ornament that can be filled with plants or preserved animals for decorations. But this is a great idea being improvised by home and gardening gurus. Good thing about this ornament is the option to hang or attach it on walls. There are hanging globe terrariums, bubble terrariums and hanging glass terrariums as some of the examples.
Last would be the hanging baskets. This maybe the simplest home and gardening decoration but with proper flower arrangement, it might be the most stylish household embellishment. Using the abundant flowering bloom would do the trick of making the hanging basket effective for decoration.
All these examples to accentuate our home are great especially if we are to add all three of them to our household theme.

The Best Patio Heater Covers - Some Handy Tips
Some consumers will have a more frequent us of their patio heaters compared to other homeowners. If your home is somewhere in the Caribbean, you are more than likely not going to use your patio heater as often as the people living in Europe. Usage of your heater cover correlates with this.
Patio heater covers are an inexpensive tool that is pretty much a mandatory requirement if you're committed to caring for your heater.
The total cost for your cover will depend entirely on which retailer you decide to go for, the product specs, and many other things, but will almost always be in the range of $ 10 to about $ 50.....an insignificant financial outlay.
If you reside on one of the colder continents with grim weather, you will probably be required to move your patio heater from the outside to somewhere inside to protect against harm.
Naturally this is not an issue if you are in the winter and probably don't spend any time outside anyway.
The real issue is with times like spring and autumn as it's not warm or cold either and will make little sense to keep on moving your heater between the outdoors and the storage space inside.
Times like this patio heater covers are excellent. By just putting the cover over the heater, you will be spared a great deal of effort and time and it does well in shielding your heater against harmful weather. Unwanted insect and other outdoor bugs are also kept outside and are stopped in their tracks from making their home in your heater.
Even though their use is the same throughout, patio heater covers do come in a variety of shapes and sizes.
The majority of retailers have covers which will be suitable for a number of different heaters, so more than likely you won't need to 'hunt' for the best cover for too long from one shop to the other.
Material type is crucial and be sure to choose something that will be in use for many, many years. As patio heaters are available in different sizes, so also are the heater covers. Be sure to therefore check the measurements. Most are equipped with a functional zipper that makes covering the heaters up dead-easy.
Most heater covers take no more than a minute to place on your heater, so you can relax in the knowing that there's not a massive chore awaiting you either.
No matter what you decide to purchase, it's almost a certainty that a heater cover will spare you a lot of time, hassle and money over time. The capital outlay is minor compared to the tremendous upside that you will experience.
Nice The Science of your Backyard
Your backyard is a great place for your child to get outside in play. In addition to swimming and playing outdoor sports, your child can also use your backyard as a science experiment. If you are interested in helping them achieve this, you may want to familiarize yourself with some popular backyard activities, especially those that have a focus on nature and science.
Exploring your backyard is not only a fun activity, but it is also educational. There are a large number of living, breathing creatures that can be found outdoors. All children love exploring nature, but there are some who may enjoy this exploration more than others. Those children are likely to be toddlers or elementary school aged children. Since young children may need your assistance, you will want to pick backyard activities that you will also enjoy.
One of the many ways that you can incorporate science into your backyard is by studying the plants that can be found in your yard. While all backyards are likely to have a number of different plants or flowers, yours may have more. For the best type of environment, you are encouraged to explore areas of your yard that have yet to be mowed.
Your backyard is also likely full of a number of different insects. Like plants and flowers, your child may enjoy examining these bugs. It is not only fun to see what bugs live in your backyard, but it is also exciting to learn about how they survive. There is also a good chance that your children may leave your yard with a new pet.
In addition to the living things that can be found in your backyard, you and your child may also want to examine the weather and the impact it has on the yard and everything inside of if. Backyard conditions change as the weather changes. By examining your backyard after a rainy day, your child may find that many of the plants, flowers, and bugs have either changed or retreated to safer grounds. Examining the effect the weather has on the things in your backyard is not only fun, but educational.
To make the most out of your child's next backyard adventure, you may want to consider purchasing them some science supplies. These supplies may include, but should not be limited to containers, butterfly catching nets, magnifying glasses, picture books, and resource guides. If your child is planning on capturing a few insects, a small cage or breathable container may be just what they need. These supplies, along with others, can be purchased from most retail stores. These stores may include department stores, home improvement stores, and toy stores.
To keep your exploration focused on education, science books and nature resource guides may be a nice addition to your child's science collection. Many books and resource guide have a focus on insects, birds, plants, and flowers. Many of these resources will provide you with information and pictures. For a large selection of science and nature books, you are encouraged to shop online or visit your local book store.
When examining the plants, bugs, and flowers in your backyard, you and your child may want to document what you see. This can easily be done with a notebook or a camera. By taking pictures, your child will always be able to remember their exploration adventures. Those pictures could also be used for other crafts. Scrapbooks and collages are a great way to turn traditional photographs into something much more.
Whether your child plans on exploring your backyard or they do so without intending to, it is likely that they will interested with what they see and learn. Incorporating science into your next backyard adventure is just one of the many things that you and your child can do outdoors; however, it may be the most beneficial.

Nice Misting Systems For a More Comfortable Patio
If you live in a part of the country that could benefit from having a cooler patio and don't mind a little extra humidity, then misting systems are the perfect solution for you. In areas of the southwest, the heat index can get so high that it is really a deterrent from going outdoors.
There is nothing worse than feeling stuck inside when you could be enjoying your patio or gazebo if it weren't for those triple digit temperatures. Well, you wouldn't have to suffer through that kind of heat if you had installed a misting system for your home or patio. You already know how the temperature on your covered patio is less than the direct sun, but you might be amazed by how much cooler it could be.
If you could achieve a drop in temperature of between 25-35 degrees, would you be interested? Yes, that is actually how much of a change a mist system can create. There are a few factors that affect that number, but it is possible.
One thing that will make that number vary is the humidity in your area. Mist systems work best in areas where the humidity is low. This is why they are popular in areas of the west and southwest desert regions, where humidity may be in the teens or even single digits during certain parts of the early summer months.
Misting systems work by creating very small droplets of water that cool the air and your body as they evaporate. This is why they work best in climates with little humidity. Consider what happens in a greenhouse. If the water vapor is kept locked inside, the air becomes very humid and the temperature can rise as well. You will find that your mist system feels best when there is a slight breeze or is drier outside.
The process whereby the water in the misting system lines is converted to droplets is called atomization. These atomized water droplets can be as small as 5 microns in diameter. This very small size is what allows them to evaporate and do the cooling. Now, you can achieve even greater cooling effect and efficiency if you also install a high pressure pump. This causes the pressure in your lines to increase up to 1,000 psi. This increased pressure actually allows your misting systems nozzles to atomize the water into ever smaller droplets. Smaller droplets equals quicker evaporation and better cooling effect.
One last point to consider is installing your patio mist system. For some models, you can simply buy them off the shelf at your local home improvement warehouse and put them up in about 4-6 hours time. If you need help or would like a professional to do the work right, expect to pay about 30% more. All in all, it is a matter of preference. If you have a smaller size patio or space you are going to be working with a professional might not be necessary.
Best of Outdoor Propane Patio Heaters
Choosing a patio heater is not as daunting a task as one might imagine. Yes the choices are vast, but generally I recommend a starting point...choosing an energy source. Will you rather opt for an electrical, gas or propane patio heater? Picking any type, narrows your choices significantly and makes it less difficult to choose the perfect heater for your patio.
Whilst each of these heater types has many benefits as well as some drawbacks, it often happens that your choice comes down to decorative attributes as opposed to anything else. Although this is true, let's look briefly at some of the pro's and cons of propane patio heaters.
Drawbacks of propane patio heaters
Most homeowners will agree that perhaps the biggest disadvantage of owning and maintaining an outdoor propane patio heater is the continuous refilling of the tank. The frequency depends of course entirely on the amount of times that you use the heater, so be prepared for this duty if you decide to go for a propane heater. The worst scenario off course is if your cylinder runs empty in the middle of a party with friends. See your patio empty just as quickly as your heater's tank did!
There is of course a way to counter this problem. If you 'have a little room' in your budget you may wish to consider installing propane lines to your house (and more specifically) your outdoor area. This is an expensive solution to the problem however, and perhaps not worthwhile pursuing for moist.
A More obscure drawback to outdoor propane patio heaters is the risk that comes with the live burning flame. Admittedly this is one of the charms of owning a heater of this kind, but the reality remains that it does pose a risk if one is not careful. The best way to deal with this is logical common sense. Keep the heater away from potential flammable areas and keep it away from children playing in the area.
With any number of drawbacks, there is of course an abundance of advantages of owning a propane patio heater. This heater type is actually an inexpensive heating source - a good point to keep in mind if you're on a budget. Depending on which area you live in, propane may also be a more accessible as an energy source. Outdoor propane patio heaters are also more movable than other heater types which make it a great tool in your decorative efforts.
All of the above reason is dwarfed off course by the main reason someone would rather opt for a propane heater. Propane heaters are known for its heating abilities. It can easily warm up an entire large outdoor area in a matter of minutes and warm your guests for a whole night of partying.

Amazing Patio Umbrellas Can Be a Great Way to Update Your Patio on a Budget
If you are hoping to find an inexpensive way to update the look of your patio it can be easily accomplished by purchasing a beautiful outdoor umbrella. You might be very amazed at the difference a bright colored patio umbrella can make to a dreary garden, or how finding just the right match for your existing décor can give your patio a fresh look. Selecting the right size, color and type of patio umbrella can be a bit overwhelming here are some of the basics that will help you choose the right type of umbrella.
The first thing to consider when you are looking for an outdoor umbrella is the type of umbrella you need. There are three key types of patio umbrellas: aluminum, wood and wind resistant. Deciding between aluminum and wood is basically personal preference, but selecting a wind resistant umbrella is based more on need.
Wood outdoor patio umbrellas, or market umbrellas as many call them, are the original outdoor umbrella. The pole and rib arms (the parts that support the canopy) are made of wood. These umbrellas are opened and closed with a manual push and pin motion and are made of a sturdy wood design. This is a smart option to have in commercial settings, because there are a smaller number of pieces that customers can adjust themselves which may significantly add to wear and tear. In subsequent years in the life of the market umbrella the pulley lift system was introduced. This made opening and closing a wood umbrella a lot easier than the push and pin lift system, specifically for residential uses. These umbrellas offer an stylish and stately feel to a patio and have been a classic choice for a long time.
An aluminum outdoor umbrella is a more current development in the world of patio umbrellas. They present a more lightweight option to the wood market umbrella and a more modern look and feel. They give consumers a product that is basically maintenance free and have additional features that wood outdoor patio umbrellas are not able provide. A lot of aluminum patio umbrellas offer easy-to-use crank lift systems and some even have deluxe auto tilt features. These features make it extremely simple to open and tilt your patio umbrella. These outdoor umbrellas are a perfect complement to cast aluminum patio furniture, but can be a great addition to any existing décor. Most aluminum outdoor umbrellas offer extended warranties which add to their appeal.
Now, while your choice between an aluminum outdoor umbrella and a wood umbrella is based on personal preference, your choice to buy a wind resistant umbrella should be based more on need. Wind resistant umbrellas are the right decision for locations that deal with abrupt gusts of wind or for locations near the beach. Wind resistant umbrellas are constructed of flexible fiberglass rib arms that bend with the wind. This allows you more time to get hold of your umbrella and close it if the winds get too strong, keeping it safe from damage. Although these umbrellas do offer you additional time to get to your umbrella and close it, wind resistant does not mean wind proof. The extra flexibility of these patio umbrellas allows them to withstand winds for longer periods than a wood or aluminum umbrella can, but you should always close your umbrella if conditions warrant it.
This information should assist you in choosing the right type of outdoor umbrella for you and your backyard or patio.

The What a Patio Awning Can Do For You
A patio awning is a wonderful thing: capable of both form and function, it serves the double duty of adding aesthetic value to your home, and of giving your home ample protection from the ravages of the elements, most notably the abuse brought about by the sun, the wind and of all sorts of precipitation (rain, snow, hail, etc.). Even more, awnings of this sort can also help to "blend" the entryways of your home with your garden, giving you easier and much more comfortable access to your garden from your home, and vice versa.
First, let us take a look at the aesthetic aspects of owning a patio awning. Awnings are a great way to ornament your patio and garden without essentially overwhelming them. They do not feel out of place in a patio, in addition to providing valuable shade in open areas. Also, these awnings come in a wide variety of colors, depending on the material they are composed of. When choosing colors and styles, you are only limited by your imagination. Also, the frames used for holding awnings up can also be composed of different materials, each with their own set of aesthetic and structural advantages.
With this beauty comes also a very important function that awnings fulfill perfectly: protection. Awnings, in addition to having their own aesthetic charm, are also durable enough hold their own against different forms of precipitation (rain, snow, etc.). The covers used for awnings are also made of durable materials in order to withstand the rays of the sun, especially during the latter parts of the morning and the noon. All this, again, comes with the valuable shade these accessories provide for us.
What's more, awnings are easy to maintain and even upgrade with accessories of their own. There are specialized parts and outdoor accessories of every sort to make the experience of hanging out in your patio a much more pleasant one. A little lubricant and a specialized cleaner (to help maintain the waterproof nature of the cover, along with providing additional sun protection) will go a long way in keeping your awning in good shape. Remember, too, to fold your awning in when the wind picks up, and when you are not using it, as many an awning has been lost, even done damage to property and to other people, simply because it got blown off its position by a strong wind.

Select the building materials and a color scheme for the patio that complement others aspects in the garden. Once the patio is completed, accessorize your new patio with patio furniture such as fold up deck chairs and tables.

Modern Add Some Sparkle to Your Backyard With a Bamboo Tiki Bar
Summer time is fast approaching and while many are planning barbecues for warm weather holidays, birthdays and outdoor picnics, many homeowners are looking for new ways to add character and style to their outdoor living environments. While it could be simple to reorganize your outdoor furnishings, or change the colors on your cushions and outdoor pillows, why not up the ante and include a bamboo tiki bar into the mix?
These tiki bars are ideal for outdoor entertaining because it acts as a main location for the food and drinks you serve, outdoor décor and a focal point while engaging your party guest. Many people love the look of this type of bar because it also creates an authentic look to a tropically themed party.
Here are few reasons that bamboo tiki bars are a great addition to your backyard or outdoor living space:
1. Bamboo is an environmentally sustainable product that you'll feel good about purchasing. It isn't just the hippies and tree huggers that are looking out for the well-being of our planet. Americans all over the nation are looking for new ways to shop smarter and use products that use a smaller carbon footprint. Bamboo is considered a sustainable resource because it's the fastest growing plant ever known, sometimes reaching more than 3 feet per day.
2. The upkeep and maintenance of bamboo is incredibly easy. To keep the original color of your outdoor bar, you simply have to wash it down with soap and water. If your spills are a bit messier, you could also use a pressure washer to clean it. Once the bar is clean, let it dry and apply a water sealing stain to keep the longevity of your bar last for years to come.
3. These bars come with a number of amenities and accessories that accent the piece of furniture. Some homeowners often times find it hard to find a complete set of matching outdoor furniture without breaking the bank. Once you find a set of chairs, tables and cushions you like, it's hard to find correlating accessories that match. However, with a bamboo bar, a number of decorative ornaments are available for the choosing. Do some research and look for items such as thatch roofing, bamboo paneling, bamboo fencing and borders, ornate wood carvings, tiki statues and even bamboo flooring to match your bar. Since bamboo has a natural color to it, you'll have no problem at all adding your own distinct and colorful flair to the outdoor space you design.
4. Outdoor bars add convenience during an al fresco party. Nothing is worse for a party host or hostess than having to spend more time walking back and forth from the kitchen to the backyard, all while trying to entertain their guests. Party hostesses often times find their self running back and forth from the inside of the house to the outside because they have to space to put all of their refreshments, appetizers or main dishes. But with an outdoor bar, you have a place to neatly put out all of your goodies for your guests to feast on.
The Best Health Benefits of Herb Gardening
One trend that is quickly gaining huge popularity is herb gardening. People everywhere are starting their own gardens and producing great herbs and other plants that are much healthier and cheaper than the produce that can be purchased at the store. While it used to take a fairly large garden to grow herbs, it is now possible to have your own herb garden inside your home through a process called hydroponic gardening. This means that you will be able to enjoy the health benefits of herb gardening, even though you may have limited yard space or live in a small apartment.
Besides being a great experience, there are many health benefits of herb gardening. The first main health benefit of growing your own herbs is the added nutrition that you and your family will be getting from your food. Home grown food is higher in nutrition because it can be harvested at peak ripeness. This means that you and your family will be getting more nutrients from your food, which will lead to less medical problems. Another one of the health benefits is that garden grown plants are not contaminated with the harmful chemicals and pesticides that are widely used in commercial farming. These chemicals can be dangerous to humans, even in small amounts, so not having them on your food can help keep you healthy.
Aside from the health benefits there are many other benefits that make growing your own food a great option. Plants that are grown at home will be much fresher than plants that were picked, shipped, and sat in the store until you purchased them. Modern Paper Fiber Wicker Patio Sets
Wicker patio sets are a popular choice for outdoor furniture. The most common type of wicker is made from wood like bamboo or rattan, while an all-weather synthetic resin wicker has revolutionized the market. However, there was a short period of time when another material called paper fiber was the prime choice in wicker furniture.
The original name of the material was fiber reed and art fiber, but today it is mainly called paper wicker or creative twist. Unlike original wicker, which dates back to ancient Egyptian times, the process of using paper fiber originated right here in the United States. In 1904 paper fiber was created out of manmade, chemically treated kraft paper that was twisted into ropelike structures. The reason paper fiber was invented was because an embargo was placed on oriental rattan coming in to the USA, and so became much harder to come by and also thereby more costly. In addition, it saved manpower and the tedious amount of time required to hand weave elaborate Victorian style furniture. The cheap new alternate material still managed to resemble expensive Victorian rattan imports, and thusly achieved incredibly popularity in wicker patio sets up through the 1930s.
Paper proved to be a very versatile and easy to work with material, in addition to its low production costs. The base pulp is first treated with sizing and glue and then twisted into strands that resemble rattan. Because of its properties, paper was a good choice for wicker patio sets as it could be fashioned into many sizes and colors due to its porous nature and can easily be manipulated without having to soak the wicker as was the case with reed wicker.
As one would assume, paper fiber quickly became stiff competition for traditional rattan. Not only was it cheaper but it was easier to repaint than rattan. Once industrialization set in, all wicker became mass-produced, rather than woven by hand. The Lloyd Loom was created in 1917 to more quickly and efficiently weave products while lowering production and labor costs. Then, in the 1920s, a wire core was added to the fiber strands to reinforce them.
Paper fiber found another outlet beyond wicker patio sets. Wooden chair manufacturers used the new material, which was now available in sheets, as the seat bottoms of wood chairs. Consumers of paper fiber liked how it came in a continuous strand, so there was no need to worry about joining multiple pieces together. It also took well to varnish and lacquers. So common was its occurrence in pop culture that classrooms and social groups would engage in art fiber weaving.
The problem however, with paper fiber is that in the long run it did not prove to be as durable as other types of wicker. Also, it did not bounce back as well from being wet as wood wicker. Paper fiber wicker patio sets fell out of favor in the 1940s, helped probably in part by the onset of WWII. Although it's not produced much these days, you can still find paper fiber furniture, and original versions from the early 1900s are coveted by antique collectors.

Best Home Vegetable Gardening - Growing Eggplant
There are many varieties of eggplants and they come in all shapes and sizes. The most common eggplant is called black beauty.
There are a number of great dishes you can make with eggplant including my favorite eggplant parmesan.
If eggplant is not part of your home vegetable garden you really should consider it. They are easy to grow with a little care and a couple of plants can produce all the of the eggplant you will need for an entire growing season.
If you plan on starting your eggplant from seed, as opposed to buying a plant from a local home or garden center, you should start them indoors about 6 to 8 weeks prior to the last frost of the season, in a portable planting greenhouse available at any garden center for less than $ 5.00.
Eggplants grow best when the soil temperature is 80 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Spread about an inch to two inches of freshly cut grass clippings at the base of each eggplant to help keep a warmer temperature in the soil.
Eggplants require full sun, so make sure you plant them in your garden that receives the most sunlight. If you plant vegetables in pots, just make sure you place the pots where they will receive a full day's worth of sun.
Eggplants require a lot of water. It is best not to put eggplants near other vegetables that require little water as in your process of watering the eggplants heavy, you may overwater their neighbors. Beans, peas, peppers and potatoes work best as an eggplant's neighbor.
Finally as you improve your home vegetable gardening skills and understand the importance of your soil's pH level, make sure that it is in the 5 to 7 range and adjust accordingly.
Eggplant is a great vegetable to add to any home vegetable garden. If you like eating eggplant like I do, then get this vegetable into your garden immediately and find out for yourself just how easy it is to grow.

The Best How to Build a Patio Cover
You should consider placing a patio cover in your patio to protect it from unpredictable weather. It will also help protect the things that are installed in your area and you do not have to remove each piece indoors each time the weather is bad.
MATERIALS NEEDED IN CONSTRUCTING A PATIO COVER
The materials that you needed for your project are one box of two inches of deck screws, eight 2 by 4 lengths of treated lumber, which should be long enough to reach the place that you want to conceal, 2 pairs of 4 by 4 lengths of pre-treated lumber, each eight ft. long, two bags of cement, H2O, a box of two inches nails and corrugated plastic that is enough to conceal your desired place.
TOOLS
The tools that you needed for this endeavor are saw, tape measure, shovel, hammer, ladder, level, electric screwdriver and drill.
STEPS IN BUILDING YOUR PATIO COVER
Dig an eighteen inches deep hole at the 4 sides of your patio using a shovel. Measure the outer area of these 4 holes. Divide one two inches by four inches length that is the same length of each side. Install these 2 inches by 4 inches lengths around the outside perimeter of the area.
Place two inches screws at each intersection with the help of an electric screwdriver. Install the remaining two inches by four inches lengths above the frame made by the 1st one and perpendicular to the initial 4 frame. Place two inches screws at each point with the aid of the screwdriver.
Install the four inches by length vertically in the initial hole. With the help of struts to keep it in position, carefully pour cement and H20 inside the hole. Make sure that the lumber is straight by using a level. The struts will make sure that it will stay in position until the cement has hardened. Repeat the same procedure with the other holes. After the cement has hardened completely, place dirt over it.
Install the frame made by the two inches by four inches above the four inches by four inches poles. Use the screwdriver to place two inches screws at each intersection of the frames. Install the corrugated plastic above it. Use nails to secure the plastic to the upper portion of the frame. After finishing your project, you can just relax and enjoy the view under your brand new cover.
ADDITIONAL TIPS
Be careful when you are using any type of machinery and wear safety goggles to prevent any unnecessary injury. Measure each part carefully so that it will fit correctly with each other. Wait until the cement has fully hardened before installing the frame of the roof to avoid any slanting.
Best Old Shop Vacs Find New Use in Gardening
Shop vacs are a popular tool amongst home owners, hobbyists as well small shop owners. These shop vacs, especially the wet and dry ones are used for cleaning basements and garages, used to clean up after woodworking projects as well in small manufacturing facilities for debris pick up tasks. While shop vacs are generally rugged tools and do not break down often, they are a mechanical device and chances are you will go through more than one in your lifetime. But before you decide to discard your old shop vac, you may find new uses for it in your garden. We outline three specific recycling uses here.
The first use for the tank or the drum is to store small yard tools such as clippers, small digging tools, small spades, garden gloves, etc so they are all in one place in one container. You can cut off the filter cage using a sawzall and thereby have a lid for the container also. Because they come with caster wheels, your storage container can now be conveniently moved around.
A second use is to use it as a pot for your bigger plants. Just drill three or four three eighths size holes at the bottom for the drainage of water, fill it with potting soil and you have a planter now. Since these drums are generally made of plastic, they will not corrode or rust and you have found a new application for an item that you would have otherwise discarded.
A third use is in the storage of grass seeds, lime and other garden supplies. Again, the provision of caster wheels attached to these containers allow for easy transportability. And since they have a wide mouth opening, it becomes easy to scoop out the seeds or fertilizer materials for use in your garden. Thus your old shop vac can still be put to good use even after it has stopped working properly.
